Second time doing a Two for Tuesday — and this one came straight from the $1 table at my local library.
(Yes, it was 10 books for $1. No, I did not walk out with 10 😅)

One of these was all over Bookstagram at some point (Know My Name).
The other? I knew nothing about it — the title just looked at me and said PICK ME NOW!

So now I’m curious 👀

📖 Brave New World by Aldous Huxley📖.

I’m only at the beginning —20%—and already, the story made me cringe.

(A dystopian novel where humans are no longer born, but manufactured.)

The opening chapter describes the creation of human beings with clinical precision: pumps, tubes, hormones, carefully measured conditions. Everything is controlled. Everything is engineered.
At first, I was unsettled. Then almost irritated.
Why go through all this? Why make life so complicated—when nature already knows how to do it?🤷🏾‍♀️

And then it hit me.
If it takes laboratories, technology, and endless intervention to imitate what the female body does naturally—then women’s bodies are not fragile.
They are extraordinarily powerful!

Pregnancy is not just a process.
It’s coordination. Timing. Chemistry. Intelligence.
All happening quietly, instinctively, inside one body.
No wonder some ancient societies once revered women.

Huxley shows us a world that removes birth from the body—and in doing so, strips it of meaning.
And I haven’t even finished the book yet.
But already, it has made me look at women’s bodies with awe. I wonder what else I'll discover in this story. Oh btw, God is Ford in this story🤣🤣.

Has a book ever unsettled you so early on—before the story even had time to unfold? Or do you love crepes😋? If yes, plain or with spread/syrup/fruit? Tea and plain crepes was my breakfast on this snowy day.

I found myself less focused on what happened
and more on what we often take for romance—in books and in real life.

📚 Book Review ⭐️ 3.75 | Genre: Contemporary Romance

One of the books I read during my quiet months. This was my first time reading Abby Jimenez! I’ve seen her books all over Bookstagram, so I figured it was time to see what the hype was about. I wasn’t disappointed… but let’s just say I have thoughts. 👀

Synopsis:
When a long-distance meet-cute turns into real feelings, two people try to build a future together while juggling families, careers, and a few too many emotional curveballs. Between time zones, baggage, and bad timing — will the distance bring them closer or slowly pull them apart?

My ♥️
💫 The MMC 😍. A natural nurturer. I mean, is there anything this man wouldn’t do for his girl?
💫 I loved how much this story centered family — especially around caring for a loved one with dementia. The FMC, her siblings, dad, and grandma didn’t always see eye to eye, but the way they rallied for her mom was beautiful.
💫 The playful banter between the two leads. Flirty, funny, and so real. I smiled more than once.

My 💔
💔 It felt like the guy was carrying the whole relationship on his back.
💔 I wanted more emotional intimacy before he started doing so much for her — more “why” behind all that effort, beyond him just being the fixer. It sometimes felt like he was helping her life more than loving her.
💔 There was a lot of drama and sad moments. Maybe it was meant to add depth, but after a while, it felt a bit heavy-handed.
💔 Also — and maybe this is just me — but there were so many “likes” in the dialogue 😅. Plus all the TikTok lingo: lit, left you on read, hits different… I got Gen Z lingo fatigue. And the number of times the MMC was compared to Rhysand from ACOTAR (which I don’t even know, btw) was exhausting 😂.

So what can I rate this book? Overall, it’s a cute, heart-tugging story — I just wanted more of the emotional spark between them. Maybe my expectations were too high because of how famous the author is? 🤷🏾‍♀️

⭐️ 3.5 | Genre: Psychological Thriller
You know I love my thrillers — the tension, the guessing, the wait, what just happened? moments. But this one? It fell a little flat for me. I’ll explain 👇
So, the story follows Rose, a 9-year-old girl who becomes mute after witnessing her nanny’s death. Stella, an attorney, is assigned to handle the custody situation since Rose’s parents are divorcing — the dad had an affair with the nanny (who was also pregnant 😬). Everyone’s a suspect… even little Rose herself.

My ♥️
💫 Stella! I loved her. She’s sharp, observant, and incredibly analytical. I found myself watching the story unfold through her eyes — noticing every detail, frowning when she did, trying to piece everything together.
💫 There’s also another thread about Stella’s past — her mother’s mysterious death. She’s trying to understand whether it was murder or an overdose, and because she experienced traumatic mutism as a child too, she connects deeply with Rose.
💫 The plot itself is original. I’ve read a lot of thrillers, but I don’t think I’ve ever come across a premise quite like this one.

My 💔
💔 There’s a point when Rose suddenly changes how she feels about Stella — and it happens so fast. I wish that emotional shift had been developed more gradually.
💔 And honestly, it wasn’t too hard to figure out who did it. The mystery lost some punch once I realized where it was heading.
Still, I’d say it’s a good one to pick up if you want a slower, less gory psychological read — something more about mind games than jump scares.

💭 Did you ever read a thriller that had all the right ingredients but somehow didn’t hit the spot?
